Descr: | Formed by the Beebe Syndicate in 1912 through the consolidation of the Auburn & Northern and the Rochester Syracuse & Eastern. In 1913 the Syracuse Lake Shore & Northern was absorbed. The ex-RS&E main line ran from Rochester to Syracuse with branches from Port Byron to Auburn (ex-A&N) and from Syracuse to Oswego (ex-SLS&N). EUR entered receivership in 1915. In 1917 the ex-SLS&N and ex-A&N lines were reorganized as the Empire State Railroad while the ex-RS&E main line was made independent as the Rochester & Syracuse.
