Descr:CR&L began as a gas and utility provider, acquiring several street railway lines in Bridgeport, Norwalk, and nearby communities around the turn of the century. It was leased to Consolidated Railway (later Connecticut Company) in 1906 but regained corporate independence in 1936. Streetcar operation ceased in 1936 but bus operation continued until 1972.
