| Descr: | CER was created in 1913 as an operating company to help unify operations of the four elevated railroads in Chicago: the Northwestern, Metropolitan-West Side, Lake Street, and South Side. It lasted until 1924, when the four lines merged to become Chicago Rapid Transit.
