Car History by Frank Hicks

Danville & Bloomsburg Street Railway 10
A rare example of a standard Brill suburban semi-convertible car is this piece of equipment. Built for the small D&BSR, a streetcar line in central Pennsylvania, the car was in operation for less than a quarter century before the line - by then NBT - was abandoned and replaced by buses. Car 10's body was moved to South Williamsport, where it was used as a building until the 1960's. In 1963 the carbody was discovered by famous traction preservationist Ed Blossom, who was able to get it moved to an antique automobile museum in Bloomsburg owned by Harry Magee. Car 10 became the first of about a dozen electric cars in what would become the Magee Trolley Museum, but it was still in storage when MTM was struck by Hurricane Agnes in 1972. The streetcar line was washed out and severe damage done to the various buildings in the museum, though the collection of electric cars escaped unharmed. The museum didn't survive, though, and a year later the entire museum was auctioned off. Car 10 was bought by an individual from New York and moved to the Black River & Western Railroad site in Ringoes, New Jersey, where it joined several other cars owned by a local traction preservation group. In the 1980's it was resold to an individual who moved it to Glenmoore, where it is currently being restored in a workshop building.
