Descr:Part of the Schoepf-McGowan syndicate, the THI&E was created to combine the Indianapolis & Western, Indianapolis & Eastern, Richmond Street & Interurban, and Indianapolis Coal Traction interurban lines. Terre Haute Light & Traction, Indianapolis & Northwestern, Indianpolis & Martinsville, and Indianapolis Crawfordsville & Western were later acquisitions. The THI&E operated a wide network covering much of western Indiana with a line to Richmond in the east and streetcar lines in several cities. It was absorbed into the Indiana Railroad network in 1930.
