| Descr: | The Northwestern was created in 1893 to build an elevated line north from Chicago but the line didn't open until 1899. It was electrified from the start, running from Chicago to Wilson Avenue. The Ravenswood branch opened in 1907 and the line to Evanston in 1908. In 1913 the line's operations were incorporated into the Chicago Elevated Railroad system.
