Descr:NYSR was a subsidiary of the New York Central formed in 1909 by acquiring and merging the Rochester Railways streetcar system with the Rochester & Eastern and Rochester & Sodus Bay interurban lines. In 1912 the Syracuse Rapid Transit, Oneida Railway, and Utica & Mohawk Valley lines were acquired though Oneida, Syracuse, and Utica lines were operated separately. The ex-R&SB line between Rochester and Sodus Bay was abandoned in 1929 and the ex-R&E line between Rochester and Geneva was abandoned in 1930. In 1938 surviving Rochester streetcar lines were reorganized as the Rochester Transit Corporation.
