Descr:The largest streetcar system in the US at one time, CSL operated all streetcar lines and most bus routes in Chicago. Fleet size was more than 3,000 cars with more than 1,000 miles of track. It was formed in 1914 by unifying Chicago Railways, Chicago City Railways, Calumet & South Chicago, and Southern Street Railway. In 1947 CSL was absorbed into the publicly-owned Chicago Transit Authority.
