Descr:In 1897 BCER assumed operation of streetcar lines in Vancouver, Victoria, and New Westminster from Consolidated Electric. Streetcar service was expanded and starting in 1905 interurban lines were built to Steveston, New Westminster, and Chilliwack. Abandonment of lines began in the 1920s. Streetcar service ended in New Westminster in 1938, in Victoria in 1948, and in Vancouver in 1955. The last interurban line ceased passenger service in 1958. In 1961 BCER's remaining freight operations and bus lines were taken over by BC Hydro.
