2012 Schedule & Fares

Stay an hour, or stay a day!

Your fare is good on all trolley cars for the entire day.

Trolley cars depart every half-hour: 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, 4:30

We recommend that you arrive at least 10-15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Last car departs at 4:30PM.

The museum grounds are open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

A brief, free guided tour of the exhibits in our railway yard is offered with your admission. You are also welcome to take a more extensive self-guided tour of additional exhibits, at your own pace.

Adults $10
Seniors $8

Educator / Military discount: Present your faculty ID or military ID for $1 discount on individual admission. Other discount offers for AAA members, and much more! See bottom of this page for all offer details.

Regular Operations Ride the trolley! The museum operates its regular public program, rides and exhibits (see timetable at top of this page) Saturdays and Sundays in May, daily Memorial Day through Labor Day, Saturdays and Sundays in September and October, Saturdays and Sundays November 24 through December 23, and daily December 26 through December 30.

The Easter Bunny rides the trolley and gives each child a small gift
MOTHERS DAY

Mom rides free (one free guest per accompanying paid admission)
RT/GUESTOP
(5/19, 5/20, 6/16, 6/17, 7/21, 7/22, 8/18, 8/19, 9/15, 9/16)
The Guest Operator program is featured on these weekends. After a short training session, you will get to run a trolley or rapid transit car! Reservations are strongly suggested to participate in the program. In addition, selected New York City Subway and Elevated equipment will be operated on the line, for the general public. There are two scheduled trips per day. The extra fare for this event is one nickel, payable at the 1923 IRT turnstile.
ANTIQUE AUTOS
(5/19)
The Antique Automobile Festival is a big hit with kids and adults. Where else can one see a model-T and a trolley car side-by-side, both in operating condition? Food, music and other surprises too! Trolley rides and tours throughout the day. Regular fare. Auto show runs 9AM - 3PM. See event page to enter your auto.

READING PROGRAM

Each Tuesday during the July and August, bring your little one to the trolley museum for a trolley ride, and a reading of a trolley-related storybook.

The trolley line is a unique venue for sharpening your low-light photography skills. Shoot alongside experienced photo instructors

HAUNTED ISLE

This October, a trolley will carry passengers down the tracks to the gate.
The choice is yours... enter if you dare!
The Haunted isle is open Friday and Saturday evenings starting September 30th. First ride 7PM, Last trolley leaves the museum at 10:00 PM. Fare: $10 per person (discounts, coupons and passes are not valid for this event) The Haunted Isle is rated S "spooky" and is recommended for adults and mature children that do not have any health issues! Wear good walking shoes as the Isle is a wooded path with many twists and turns. For more info see www.hauntedisle.org
PUMPKIN PATCH

Take the trolley to the pumpkin patch, where children select their own little pumpkin to decorate. Coloring pages, toy train layouts, refreshments, and more! (museum grounds open at 10:00 AM, first trolley at 10:30, patch opens at 11:00AM, last ride to the Pumpkin Patch leaves at 4:00 PM) Fare: $10 Adults, $8 Seniors, $7 Children
ASTRONOMY NIGHT
(11/03)
The Trolley Museum and the Astronomical Society of New Haven partner to bring you Astronomy Night in the Wetlands. Take the trolley to the astronomy classroom and telescope station.
SANTA/WINTER WONDERLAND
(11/24, 11/25, 12/1, 12/2, 12/8, 12/9, 12/15, 12/16, 12/22, 12/23)
Every child visits Santa in his North Pole Trolley and takes home a free coloring book. While there, enjoy hot chocolate, cookies and other refreshments. Toy train layouts will also be operating. Santa is working late every night! Last trolley trip to the North Pole leaves at 8:00 PM. Your tickets are good all day and night. See our multi-cultural holiday season displays: over a dozen trolleys, each decorated in a unique theme. Regular fare. There are no additional charges to see Santa or pose with him for photos (just bring your own camera).

Special Discount Programs for 2012

  • $1 off for AAA members with current membership card. Valid only for individual admission of card holder.
  • Check out the Trolley Museum Library Pass from your local participating public library for half-off (up to 6 individuals per group).
  • $1 off individual admission with Big-Y card, MA Teachers' Association, and other participating programs.
  • $1 off for all Active Duty Military or Veterans (with military ID).
  • Special half-off for military/veterans on Mondays Memorial Day through Labor Day.
  • Half-off for Seniors on Mondays Memorial Day through Labor Day
  • $1 off for all current K-12 and college educators (with school ID)
  • $1 off when you show your used 2012 ticket from other participating Connecticut museums and attractions. (one discount per used ticket).
  • Free individual admission to current members of other ARM (Association of Railway Museums) member museums (show current membership pass).
